Andi Hawkins has kept Your Life Nutrition (YLN) running smoothly as the Administrator and Intake Coordinator since 2012. She makes sure the administrative side of YLN is fully taken care of so the Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) can focus on their clients. If you call or email YLN, it will be Andi’s warm and welcoming voice answering your inquiries.

Andi first worked with individuals with eating disorders at the Remuda Ranch in Arizona which serves women and girls with eating disorders. Andi began supporting the members of the ranch as a mental health technician, and in her last years there she served as their worship leader. It was meaningful to Andi that she was able to support the girls on their difficult, yet sacred recovery journeys.

After leaving the ranch, a string of unfulfilling positions made Andi, “really careful for what was next,” as she, “was longing for something meaningful.”

Andi found exactly that when she heard about Nancy King and her thriving nutrition therapy practice. After learning about the role she would play at YLN, Andi knew it was a perfect fit, as she was able to bring her experience in administration and eating disorder support to enable and contribute to the purposeful work at YLN. Andi also loved that the practice serves a diverse clientele with a wide range of nutritional needs in addition to eating disorders.

Now, having settled into the team, Andi reflects that, “it’s not just a job I’m coming to, it's a part of a team, a part of a purpose.” Additionally, Andi remains engaged in her work because she believes, “it’s really powerful to continue to see the impact that the dietitians’ work is having and that she gets to play a role in helping support them.”

One of Andi’s favorite parts of the job is her time in intake sessions with potential clients. Intake sessions are 10-30 minute phone calls where Andi gathers information so that she can pair clients with the YLN RDN that best fits their needs. Even if the sessions can be short, Andi understands that “there is a lot of trust that needs to be built in that conversation,” as the caller has often been misunderstood in the past and is looking for someone to listen and address their needs. A major goal of Andi’s is to ensure the individual that YLN RDNs can do just that as they partner with them on their nutrition journeys.

Being at YLN from the beginning has been a fulfilling experience for Andi as she has appreciated, “how it has grown and transformed with new team members and dietitians.” Overall, Andi feels, “honored to be a part of the evolution of the YLN team,” that continues to expand their capacity to provide compassionate care to their clients.
