How Does YLN Nutrition Counseling Work?
Free Intake Session (20-30 mins)
Our experienced and welcoming intake coordinator, Andi Hawkins, will have a conversation with you about your goals for nutrition counseling, your family history, medical history, etc. so that she can match you with the YLN dietitian who can best support you and your needs!
Initial Session with Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (90 min)
This session is an in-depth conversation between you and your Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) about how you think and feel about food, physical activity, your body, medical concerns, family history, stress levels, sleep, and overall health. After listening to what you want from nutrition counseling we develop a plan unique for you. Sometimes clients aren’t sure what they want because they’re not yet aware of what’s possible. That’s ok. A key outcome of this conversation is that very discovery!
Follow Up Sessions
Each subsequent session is designed to meet you where you are, assess what’s moving you closer to your goals and integrate tools, strategies and practices that will help you. This could include coaching, meal support, hands-on learning, utilizing apps, key medical testing, and so much more.
How do I know when I’m done working with my RDN?
You and your Dietitian Nutritionist will discuss when you’re ready for more time in between sessions. An important indicator is your ability to sustain the practices in between sessions that work towards your nutrition goals. Another indicator is that you can see yourself adapting your knowledge, experience and skills to respond to future situations in a way that aligns with your goals. You’ll have a similar discussion with your Dietitian Nutritionist when it’s time to end your work together.
