Celiac Disease
Celiac Disease is an immune reaction to eating gluten. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley and rye. When someone with celiac disease eats gluten, there is inflammation in the gut lining wall as the body’s response. Overtime, this inflammation can lead to damage to the digestive lining, which can lead to lack of nutrient absorption and other medical issues such as anemia or osteoporosis.
Some signs that you may have celiac disease:
👉Diarrhea
👉Bloating
👉Gas
👉Fatigue
👉Brain fog
👉Abdominal Pain
👉Rash
These are usually more prominent after eating something with gluten Some people may have no symptoms at all. It is recommended to go on a gluten free diet to reduce symptoms and help to heal the digestive tract. Gluten free eating can sometimes be a little tricky. You’ll need to read the labels to determine if they are gluten free. Do not eat: Foods that contain wheat, barley, rye or triticale (blend of wheat and rye) Ingredients that have an ingredient derived from a gluten containing grain, such as wheat gluten used as a thickener or foods that have been cross-contaminated with gluten-containing ingredients during production Look for: Labels that say gluten free Foods made with corn, rice, soy or other gluten-free grains.
